“The best of all medicines are rest and fasting.”   Benjamin Franklin

How can fasting heal your body?

There are two ways of fasting. Fasting for several day and intermittent fasting. They are booth good but serve different purposes.

Fasting several days

This is the option we recommend to become keto adapted as soon as possible. Number of days will depend on your age and circumstances. This is especially important if you have an autoimmune disease. Fasting for several days will reset your body and bring back good bacteria in your gut. After all that is where or healing starts or the opposite or illnesses stem from. It is a cleansing process, it gets rid of stored toxins and aids autophagy. If you are due to have chemotherapy it is important that your immune system is as strong as possible. Yes most good bacteria will still be killed through the treatment. After treatment it is important to build up your good bacteria as soon as possible. This is where healthy enzymes will be important and of course in combination with the Hart Ketogenic Plan. We'll guide you through this process, what to do when.

Intermittent fasting

We recommend intermittent fasting on a daily basis. The body needs rest in between meals, both to digest what has just been eaten as well as repair itself. We recommend, what is refered to as 16:8, it means that you will eat two meals within 8 hours (no snacking) and then leave your body to repair itself during 16 hours. This boosts mitochondrial energy efficiency.

We simply eat too much and too often in the Western world. That's why we are seeing the tsunami of diseases as well as obesity. Your ancestors had no choice but to fast for several days on the trot. No supermarkets and no freezers unless you lived in a cold clime.
